Our Homicide Unit is currently on scene investigating the death of a man which occurred earlier today outside of a mall in the northwest. At approximately 2:21 p.m., today, Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, police were called for reports of shots fired outside of the west entrance of Market Mall located at 3412 49 Street N.W. in the parking lot. Upon arrival, first responders located a man in medical distress.
He was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition here he was declared deceased. No suspects are in custody at this time. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 14, 2023. We are releasing an image of the vehicle that was in the area at the time of the shooting.
The vehicle is described as a white 2015 – 2016 model Volvo XC60, and investigators are looking to speak with the driver who may have information about the incident. A picture of the vehicle is available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.
