Region of Peel<\/em> <\/strong>\u2013 The Central Robbery Bureau has made two arrests following an armed robbery at a currency exchange shop in Mississauga in late 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024, at approximately 6:05 p.m., four armed suspects, wearing disguises, approached the business owner of a currency exchange shop near Cawthra Road and Dundas Street East, who was sitting outside of the establishment in his vehicle. The victim was struck, physically removed from his vehicle, and forced to open his establishment. Once inside, the suspects were confronted by an employee and fled the scene. Fortunately, neither victim suffered any physical injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Jan. 14, police arrested a 14-year-old male youth from Toronto in connection with the robbery. He was held in custody for a bail hearing and charged with the following offences:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Mar. 5, a second suspect, 29-year-old Tylor Lecuyer of Richmond Hill was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing . He has been charged with the following: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time of his arrest, Lecuyer was on a court ordered weapons prohibition due to a previous conviction for ilegally possessing a weapon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the assistance of the York Regional Police Hold Up Squad and Tactical Unit, a search warrant was executed at a residence near Leslie Street and Highway 7, in Richmond Hill. Police recovered stolen property and other evidence including multiple replica firearms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This investigation remains ongoing and detectives anticipate further arrests and charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
