45-year-old man charged in connection with firearm-related incident

A 45-year-old man from Hampton, N.B., has been arrested following a firearm-related incident in Darlings Island, N.B.

On February 19, 2025, at approximately 10:24 p.m., members of the Hampton RCMP responded to a complaint of an individual that discharged a firearm on Darlings Island Road, in Darlings Island. 

When police arrived at the scene, they were able to quickly identify and arrest a 45-year-old man outside of a residence on Darlings Island Road. A firearm was also seized as part of the investigation.

At the time, police believed the incident to have been isolated, and that there was no danger to the general public. No one was injured at the time of the incident.

On February 20, 2025, 45-year-old Charles Arthur Humphries appeared in Saint John Provincial Court, and was charged with:

-Break and enter
-Possession of a non-restricted firearm
-Careless use of a firearm

On February 24, 2025, he returned to court for his bail hearing. He was remanded into custody and was ordered to undergo a thirty-day psychiatric assessment. He is scheduled to return to court on March 10, 2025.

The investigation is ongoing.
