After a significant outage Monday morning, power has been restored in western Prince Edward Island.

After a significant outage that affected the western portion of the province on Monday morning, thousands of people on Prince Edward Island now have power again.

The outage affected over 19,000 subscribers in St Eleanors, Wellington, O’Leary, Alberton, and the neighbouring areas.

By 10:30 a.m., that number had dropped to three customers.

According to Maritime Electric, a transformer at the Sherbrooke substation is the source of the problem, and personnel are currently at the site.
