A 20-year-old male has been arrested for a FaceBook Marketplace theft in Oshawa.
On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, members of Central East Division responded to a theft in the area of Hillcroft Street and Ritson Road South. The suspect met the victim under the premise of purchasing jewellery the victim had posted for sale on FaceBook Marketplace. The suspect took the jewellery and attempted to flee on foot. The victim was able to chase the suspect and retrieve the jewellery. The suspect brandished a knife on the victim and fled the area prior to police arrival.
On Friday, February 7, 2025, the suspect was arrested by members of the East Crime Team.
Nicholas RUNCIE, age 20, of Scarborough is charged with: Theft Under $5000 and Assault With Weapon Or Imitation Weapon.
He was released on an Undertaking.
A Criminal Code Search Warrant has led investigators believe there may be additional victims. RUNCIE used the aliases of Kayden TO and Michael FRAIL.
