On April 6, 2025, at approximately 6:15 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residence in the 700 block of Pacific Avenue for the report of a non-responsive male who appeared to have been assaulted.
Central District General Patrol officers discovered a deceased male, identified as
32-year-old Kelsey TRAVERSE. TRAVERSE, a member of Lake St. Martin First Nation, Manitoba, resided in Winnipeg.
The identity of a male suspect was established and he was arrested at a residence in the 100 block of Kate Street.
The Homicide Unit assumed the investigation and determined that the deceased and the accused were previously known to each other. They became involved in an altercation at the Pacific Avenue residence which resulted in a homicide.
Michael George LAVALLEE, 33, of Winnipeg is charged with Second Degree Murder and has been detained in custody.
