We are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who is believed to be responsible for verbally harassing & physically threatening another man while at a grocery store in December.

📍 On Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, at approx. 11:30 a.m., a Ukrainian man was approached by an unknown man at the T & T Supermarket located at 25 Heritage Meadows Way S.E. It is believed the unknown man overheard the victim speaking Ukrainian on the phone before he approached the victim & began to verbally harass & threaten the Ukrainian man inside the store.

As the victim exited the store, the suspect allegedly retrieved a knife from his truck & then approached the victim again, threatening to physically harm him, making references to the ongoing Ukrainian & Russian conflict.

The victim went back into the store & store security offered assistance & called police. The victim was not injured & the suspect fled prior to police arrival.

After reviewing CCTV footage & exhausting all investigative leads to identify & locate the suspect, officers are turning to the public for their help.

The suspect is described as having a light skin tone, in his 50s, wearing blue jeans, a dark jacket & a baseball cap with Russian symbols. He was seen driving off in a black, or dark blue, Nissan Frontier, with a detachable Russian flag clipped to the driver side door.

Any evidence of a hate motivation is considered by the courts after a person is found guilty of the connected crime. If the judge decides during sentencing that hate was a motivation for the offence, it is an aggravating factor that can add to the convicted person’s sentence.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service non-emergency number.
