The New Brunswick RCMP has arrested a 40-year-old man from Hartland, N.B., and a 30-year-old woman from Woodstock, N.B., and charges have been laid following a firearm-related incident in Mainstream, N.B.
On February 17, 2025, at approximately 10:55 a.m., members of the Western Valley Region RCMP responded to a complaint of an individual that had been held against their will and a firearm discharge on Furlong Road, in Mainstream.
Prior to police arriving, two suspects had fled the scene in a blue pickup truck. Shortly after, while conducting patrols in connection with the investigation, police located the pickup truck parked in a residential driveway on Route 105, in Pembroke, N.B. Police quickly located and arrested a 40-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman inside the garage, and a firearm was seized without incident.
It was learned by police early in the investigation that the individuals were known to each other, and that this was believed to be an isolated incident. No injuries were sustained from the discharged firearm.
On February 18, 2025, 40-year-old Patrick Harris appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court, and was charged with:
• Possession of a weapon contrary to an order
• Possession of a restricted firearm and ammunition without authorization or a license
• Disguise with intent
• Uttering Threats
• Failure to comply with a probation order
• Pointing a firearm
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Reckless discharge of a firearm
• Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle without authorization.
He was remanded into custody, and will reappear in Woodstock Provincial Court on February 20, 2025, for a bail hearing.
On the same day, 30-year-old Tara Hamilton also appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court and was charged with:
• Possession of a weapon contrary to an order
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Reckless discharge of a firearm
• Possession of a restricted firearm and ammunition without authorization or a license
• Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle without authorization.
She was remanded into custody and will also reappear in Woodstock Provincial Court on February 20, 2025, for a bail hearing.
