Suspects to identify in Somerset Street distraction theft
(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Central Criminal Investigation Section is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two female suspects involved in distraction theft at a business in the 900 block of Somerset Street West on February 3rd.
At approximately 4:15pm, the two female suspects entered the store, one spoke with the store clerk and they went to view something in a different part of the store. While the clerk was distracted with suspect 1, the second suspect stole an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency. Both suspects then left the store and drove off in a vehicle.
Suspect one is described as a woman, approximately 30-40 years old, black hair, and an olive skin tone. At the time of the incident, she was seen wearing a black coat with a white scarf. During the interaction she also spoke Italian.
Suspect two is described as a woman, approximately 50-60 years old, black hair, and an olive skin tone. At the time of the incident, she was seen wearing an off-white hooded vest, black purse with shoulder strap, and Ugg style boots.
The suspect vehicle is described as a grey 2015 Jeep Compass, without front licence plate, possibly from Quebec.
