Toronto police are investigating a shooting at a North York tow yard early Tuesday morning, marking the latest in a series of violent incidents linked to the tow truck industry.
Shots were fired around 1 a.m. in the Sheppard Avenue West and Chesswood Drive area. No injuries were reported, but officers recovered shell casings at the scene. Police have not released any suspect information at this time.
Series of Tow Truck-Related Shootings Under Investigation
The incident follows four other shootings involving the tow truck industry in Toronto and Ajax earlier this month.
March 4, Weston Road & St. Clair Avenue West: Two people were shot at a tow yard. A man in his 50s sustained life-threatening injuries, while a man in his 20s had non-life-threatening injuries. A suspect fled in a dark sedan.
March 4, Lawrence Avenue East & Warden Avenue: About an hour later, a tow-truck driver was shot at a Scarborough gas station while washing his truck. The victim, a man in his 20s, was hit in the leg and called for help. Witnesses assisted before emergency crews arrived.
March 5, The West Mall & The Queensway: Police found evidence of gunfire at another tow yard, but no injuries were reported. The suspects fled the scene.
March 1, Mackenzie Avenue & Bayly Street West (Ajax): Durham Regional Police are searching for suspects after a tow-truck driver was shot at while sitting in his vehicle.
Authorities continue to investigate these incidents and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
