Investigators with the York Regional Police have charged two youths with attempted murder, after a firearm was discharged during a robbery in the City of Vaughan.
On Saturday, January 18, 2025, at approximately 12AM, police responded to a robbery in the area of Teston Road and Jane Street. The victim met with the suspect to sell him a phone. However, the suspect stole the phone and fled on foot.
The victim attempted to give chase at which point the suspect discharged a firearm in the victim’s direction. The victim was not injured.
The suspect then carjacked a Honda CR-V that was idling in a driveway, threatening the owner with the firearm. As the suspect attempted to flee in the vehicle, he lost control, crashed and fled on foot.
Through investigation, two suspects were identified. Two youths have subsequently been charged. An adult male has also been charged for failing to comply with his weapons prohibition after ammunition was located in his residence during one of the search warrant executions.
Charged: a 15-year-old male, of no fixed address. Charges: Attempt to Commit Murder, Robbery with a Firearm x2, Motor Vehicle Theft with Violence Fail to Comply with Release Order x2, Breach of YCJA Probation.
A 17-year-old male, of no fixed address. Attempt to Commit Murder (accessory after the fact), Robbery with a Firearm x2, Motor Vehicle Theft with Violence, Breach of Recognizance, Fail to Comply with Release Order, Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited, Breach of YCJA Probation.
Both youths were on probation and release orders for unrelated offences at the time of the offence.
